What do I know about Google Earth and voicethread? I know that Google Earth finds different places in the world. It will take you to the spot that you have requested to see. Voicethread I have never heard of. Have I presented material about Google Earth and voicethread before? No I have never used voicethread and for Google Earth I have just used it to find different places in the world. Do I understand what I have to do? Is there anything I don’t understand about this activity? Yes I understand what I have to do in order to get the best mark possible. I am not sure about voicethread because I have never used it but I will be able to learn about the program. I will have no troubles with Google Earth. What skills and knowledge will I be using? I will be using the skills from when I have been using Google Earth and for voicethread I will use my computer knowledge.
Identify What is the task?
What do I want to accomplish in creating a poster? How do I want to interest others in my topic? Do I want to present an informative project that can be used as a reference? Do I want to present a warning project that alerts people to danger? Or some combination of those goals? For this Google Earth project I would like to make everyone aware of the places I have chosen if they have never heard of them before, and if they know the place they might learn some facts about the place. To make my project more interesting I could get some good pictures. What do I need in order to do this? What materials do I have? What resources do I need? Should I do more research on Google Earth and voicethread? I will need some facts about the place and some images. I can use some information that I already know and find some information off the web. I will get some images from home and some off the web. I will need to do some research on voicethread so I know what I am doing. Who will be looking at this work? How can I appeal to other students? The Teachers and student will be looking at my work get some interesting photos that theThe Teachers and student will be looking at my work get some interesting photos that they want to look atwant to look at. Are there examples of Google Earth and voicethread projects or materials that I can look at? Yes there are heaps of voicethreads to look at to get some ideas off and the teacher has showed us what to do in Google Earth so I know what to do. What are the obstacles? What problems may happen? The obstacles that could happen are that the programme won’t work and I might have some troubles with voicethread because it is a new programme and I don’t know how it works.
Generate How many ideas can I think of?
List as many ideas as possible. I need to choose at least three images for each place in order to get a good mark. I decided to choose the pictures that I did because they were good images of what I needed and had good angles.
I chose the places that I did because some of the places I had been so I could use images that I took. I chose some of the places that I did because I wanted to learn more about that place and some of the places are where I would like to go. What aspects of Google Earth and voicethread interest me? What would I want to see on a poster? I like how on Google Earth you can go really close to the place and anywhere in the world it will take you. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each idea. Some advantages for my ideas would be for the images if I get good ones they will be eye catching but if they are not so good people might not be so interested. People could want to learn more about the places I chose but if the already knew about the place they might not be so interested. Are there any other subjects to consider? No I don’t think there is any other subjects. What resources (books, websites, etc.) have I been provided with? I have been provided with Google images, Google web, documents that Mrs Beadle has sent us, the programs, Voicethread account and the use of our laptops. What do other people think about this? Do others think I have a good idea? I think that people know that I have been having troubles with Google Earth because every time that I put it in it didn’t save but it ended up working in the end.
I think people think that I have a good understanding on what I am doing.
Decide Which is the best idea?
Which are the best ideas? Prioritise the 3-5 best ideas. I think that my best ideas are using photos that I have taken.
Finding good images on what I am doing to show the best of the place as possible.
Finding useful facts so that I hope people will learn more facts about the place Explain your reasons for choosing these. What are the arguments for and against each idea? I want to use photos that I have taken because it increases the chance of getting a good mark.
I want to get good photos so people can see the place well.
I want to get good facts so people might be able to learn something from it. Which idea is the best one for completing the task? Which idea is best for accomplishing my goal? I good planned project completed with all of the above. Good pictures and useful facts. What is my plan? What are the steps to follow? I will complete the pictures in word first with all the information.
Make a voicethread for each place
Put bullet points in Google Earth for each place and put my voicethread presentations onto the bullet points
Save my work
Watch them How will I keep track of my progress? What are my milestones? I will complete as much work in class and keep on the right track and not get side tracked. Possible list of steps: ·Research and gather material about my subject. ·Revise material and compose text for poster. ·Create graphics. ·Take pictures. Edit pictures. ·Assemble text and images into poster. ·Review Google Earth projectand modify as needed.

Questions to consider
Implement Let’s do it!
Am I making progress through the plan? Yes I am making good progress but Google Earth is playing up and nothing is getting saved so I have to redo it all the time Am I doing this correctly? You may need to review your goal for this activity. Yes I am doing it correctly and I am flowing the right track and getting everything complete
Do I need to revise my plan? As you continue, you may discover facts that require changing the plan. No my plan is still going well.
Am I satisfied with the text/graphics/pictures that I have created? Yes I am happy with what I have done the pictures are what I was looking for and I found some good facts
Evaluate How well did I do?
Did I complete the task as originally set out? Did I solve the problem? Yes I have completed the original task but I am having trouble with Google Earth because I can’t open up voicethread on Google Earth I am not quite sure on how to solve it.
Is the text as interesting or informative as intended? I didn’t know how to change the font and I didn’t think about changing the colour but the colour of the font stands out on a white background. Are the graphics and images appealing? Yes I think the images are appealing and some of them are very good angles of the place. I have taken some of the pictures and it turned out well What have I done? I have finished but I am not sure if the voicethreads are working in Google Earth. What have I done really well? Is there anything that stands out as particularly good? I think I have got good pictures and have completed the voicethread well. I think some of my voicethreads are quite good considering it is my first time using the program. Is there anything that needs improvement? Should I go back and redo anything? I had troubles with Google Earth but when I tried to redo my Google Earth but it didn’t work very well. I had to redo one of my voicethreads Am I ready to communicate my ideas or show/display my work to others? Is the Google Earth project ready to be shown to others? I think it is but I am not sure if Google Earth is ready to cooperate with me.
Communicate I Let’s tell someone!
(You may have answered some of these questions early on during the planning stages.)
Who can I tell? Who is my audience? I can tell the teacher and my audience is the students and the teacher What is the best way to present this to my audience? There is only one way using Google Earth. How do I interest other students in my particular subject? I will interest them by putting good pictures and information. Did I include the right text/graphics/images to inform and appeal to other students? Yes I think I have used the right images and text to appeal to other students
Learn from experience What have I learned?
If I had to start this activity all over again, how would I improve my performance? Would I change my work habits? Would I use a different subject or different design? Would I only make small changes? I woild not make many changes I would just have to make sure that Google Earth is working. How have I improved since that last time I worked on a similar task? I think I have improved on my independence more and learning more about programs I don’t know much about Have I learned anything about my subject or about appealing to others or about presenting information? Yes I have learnt some more useful information about the places I have choosen. Can I use that elsewhere? I can use it for general knowledge How has my thinking changed as a result of this work? My thinking has changed by trying to think ahead. What skills have I learned and developed? I have developed to use Google Earth better and how to use Voicethread Can these skills be applied to other subjects/activities? They can be used for a few subjects using Google Earth. What problems did I have to solve? Were there obstacles in developing ideas, researching material, or presenting the material? How were they overcome? I had to try solve problems with Google Earth because it was playing up. They were overcome by learning more about the program How did I use the strengths of others to help me? I used my strengths of knowing a bit about Google Earth to help me and my knowledge of computers to help me with voicethread.
